Responsible to facilitate quality patient care in collaboration with Nursing Operations Manager(s), nursing staff, and other
disciplines appropriate to patient population through integration of the following essential characteristics: Leadership, Clinical
Expertise, Collaborator, Educator, Consultant, Researcher, and Mentor.
Uses advanced skills and in-depth clinical knowledge in a highly independent manner to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
clinical outcomes of clients across the continuum of care.
Uses or gathers data that influence patient outcomes and improves healthcare delivery by developing practice initiatives processes
of care, performance improvement and research.
Collaborates and communicates with interdisciplinary team in development of evidence-based clinical initiatives, integrating
current literature and benchmark information as a foundation for process improvement to optimize patient outcomes.
Promotes, disseminates, and integrates nursing research at all levels of nursing.
Actively facilitates and participates on appropriate task forces and committees affecting clinical practice in assigned population.
Performs ongoing nursing and collaborative clinical research to improve patient outcomes based on identified practice issues and
opportunities.
Promotes professional involvement and heightened awareness for excellence in nursing practice, certification, and advanced
education.
Able to maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
Seeks funding to support research, education and clinical programs as appropriate.
Education/Training
Graduate from an accredited program of nursing. Master's Degree in Nursing with preparation as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Post-
Masters Certificate as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Licensure/Certification
Current national certification in area of specialty and licensed as a CNS in the state of Florida renewed every two years. Maintains a
current BLS certification for healthcare providers. ACLS certification for adult critical care areas and PALS certification for pediatric
critical care areas.
