HIM Operations Coordinator

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management (HIM), Business, Healthcare Administration of a closely related field; or completion of the American Health Information Management Association's (AHIMA) Independent Study program, or an approved Medical Transcription or Coding Program or two years of college courses in Health Information Management. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) by the American Health Information Management Association or Certified Medical Transcription by the Association

for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Association of Professional Coders renewed very two years. Successful completion of an approved HIM program, Coding or Medical Transcription program is accepted with RHIA/RHIT / CCS / CMT eligibility and attainment of credentials within nine months of employment, if credentials are not present at time of employment.Six months of experience in the Health Information Management field or related health care setting or customer service setting is required if credentials are not present at the time of employment. Successful completion of an approved HIM / CMT program is accepted withRHIA / RHIT / CMT/ CPC eligibility is accepted if work experience is not present. For Coding a minimum of 1 year coding experience and for Medical Transcription, a minimum of 2 years of medical transcription experience in a hospital setting.
